Sustainability
Together, we build a sustainable society
When Petter Sjöström and Lars Hedström researched and started working with solar energy in 2002, it was with the vision of contributing to a more sustainable world, for both current and future generations. Solkompaniet was founded in 2010 with the ambition to be involved in building a truly sustainable society, as a foundation.
In the fall of 2015, world leaders from more than 190 countries gathered in Paris at COP21 (Conference of the Parties #21), the 21st climate summit in the series. During COP21, 17 global sustainability goals* were decided for the world to reach by 2030.
We at Solkompaniet stand behind all of the global sustainability goals, but in our operations, on an overall level, we have chosen to focus on SDG11 - Sustainable Cities and Communities and SDG17 - Partnerships for the goals, through everything we do and how we work through SDG7 - Affordable and clean energy, SDG8 - decent work and economic growth, SDG9 - Industry, innovation and infrastructure and SDG12 - Responsible consumption and production.

Kärrbo Prästgård is Sweden's first agrivoltaic solar park (2021), which is a technology that enables agriculture combined with the production of solar electricity.
How we work with the UN's sustainability goals
In order to reach a more sustainable world and implement the transition we are facing, we need to work together. At Solkompaniet, we contribute, among other things, by 'collaborating and sharing knowledge about science, technology and innovation' (SDG17.6) and 'encouraging and promoting effective partnerships' (SDG 17.17).
We also need to take into account the overall picture and Solkompaniet's role. Our solutions therefore contribute to 'reducing the environmental impact of cities' (SDG 11.6), working for an 'inclusive and sustainable urbanisation' (SDG 11.3) and 'promoting national and regional development planning' (SDG 11.B). We learn and collaborate together with customers, partners, suppliers, employees and other stakeholders.
